Bryndefaid Stud

Welsh Mountain Ponies

The Stud's current senior Stallion is Friars Sprightly who was bought from his breeders at the Friars Stud in Anglesey as a 3yo Colt in 1991 to provide an out-cross for the Herald Daughters. He remains here to this day - and will do so for the rest of his life! He is a perfect gentleman and a joy to have, and we think his stock speak for themselves. He has been shown lightly here in Scotland in his younger days but is now retired !
He is a full brother to the many times Champions Friars Sion, Friars Siani, Friars Shanco, Friars Integrity Boy and Friars Generous.

We also have at stud Friars Siacob, a fantastic moving grey stallion by Cefn Fedw Golden Glory and out of Friars Selina. Siacob who has never been shown is one of only three foals out of the twice Royal Welsh winning Selina, who tragically passed away at such an early age, having spent her last years here with us at Bryndefaid.

Siacob is line bred to the same Cross as the legendary Stallions Friars Superted and Friars Rupertino, being by the top sire Golden Glory and out of a mare by the outstanding Friars Freelance also sire of many champions.

We have retained the young Stallion Bryndefaid St. Andrew who was shown as a colt by Mark Tamplin, and was always placed in good company. Andrew combines the bloodlines of Waxwing Herald & Friars Sprightly. Andrew was shown under saddle in 2008, being produced by Samantha Roberts, and had fantastic first season Qualifying and coming Ninth in the Open Ridden A&B Class at Hoys, and winning his section of the Picton Final.
